I love this view of my back flower garden. The pumpkin plants have totally taken over, they are in the garden next to this one, around the corner of the house, but you see that they have grown into my flowers here. I’ve been contemplating what I want to do with my flower gardens next year. I just put in my gardens last year and some things have grown in more than other things so some spots are overgrown and some spots are bare. I also have a dying bush in my front garden and I think I want to take it out and put in some ornamental grass. This is the first time I’ve ever done flower gardens, its harder than I thought it would be planning it out.
Today we were reading this book:
Several years ago I when I was still in college I went to a children’s literature conference where I met the author of this book. Ever since then, this book has been on my list of books I want to read. I finally got around to it as I found it at the library recently. It’s a pretty cute book, it’s about this young farmer girl that waits outside all night to have her Fairy Godmother to come so she can go to the local ball and marry a prince. While she’s waiting, her neighboring farm boy comes along and asks her to marry him. She hesitantly agrees. They have a normal yet happy live and he treats her like a princess. Several years later while she is out in the melon patch picking a melon her Fairy Godmother appears and asks if she wants to go to the ball. She replies no, that she is content with her life. Perfect message! Life usually isn’t spectacular, full of amazing things. Sometimes life is full of changing diapers and soothing babies. But even when things aren’t perfect and spectacular, you can be content and happy with what you have.
